Sunderland MMA world heavyweight champion Phil De Fries prepares to defend his title

Thornhill’s Phil De Fries is one of the most successful fighters in town, winning the KSW World Heavyweight belt seven times – and he’s planning on making it eight straight.

The 36-year-old MMA star will return to Poland to defend his title in the KSW 74 fight card when he takes on Ricardo Prasel in the cage on September 10, 2022.

Phil, who fights out of TFT at Seaham, is undefeated since signing with KSW, one of the biggest fight promoters in the world.

Speaking of his opponent, he said, “I feel good about the fight. He’s a goofy fighter because he does Jiu-jitsu, which is all about submissions, so it’s a different style, but I’ll be careful with his little tricks.

“I’m used to winning. It’s been years since I lost and I don’t plan on changing that.”

Phil says it’s great to fight in front of the Polish crowd, but he’d also like to go in the cage in England.

“It’s the third most popular national sport there, after football and tennis,” the father-of-two said. yet.”

Phil’s next fight is in September

Phil first got into martial arts at the age of 14 and started doing BJJ before switching to MMA at the age of 20. He fought for the biggest fight promoter in the world, the UFC, in his twenties.

But it was joining the TFT gym and signing for KSW at the age of 30 that led to his greatest success in the sport.

Fight fans around the world can watch KSW fights live on on laptop and desktop and on the KSW app on their mobile device.
