Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Conor McGregor’s announcement earlier today targeting a title fight against Kamaru Usman certainly came as a surprise. As a former champ, McGregor may be able to step back into the lightweight title picture at any time, but he’s only fought Nate Diaz at 170lbs, while Usman is the pound-for-pound king. which largely dominated the field.
If McGregor is serious about a welterweight run, he’s going to need all the help he can get!
Surprisingly, Khamzat Chimaev reached out. Despite being in the midst of his own welterweight run, Chimaev took to Twitter to invite McGregor to train with him and Darren Till. He wrote: “If you want to come back, we will help you, we are waiting for you in our camp.
A bit of a change of tone from the man who wants to “eat everyone”, isn’t it?
At this time, McGregor’s move up to welterweight and any potential matchup against Kamaru Usman is entirely moot. Chimaev, meanwhile, is booked against former title challenger Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 in April, a fight that is widely considered a title knockout match.
… Unlike the Irishman who gets involved?
Dan Hooker, absolute madman that he is, has managed to become a featherweight! We’ll have to wait until tomorrow evening to find out if it’s a good idea, however…
I remember Tim Boetsch.
Juila Avila will be out for the rest of the year due to injury and pregnancy.
The trashy conversation between Darren Till and Uriah Hall continues, and the fight comes into its own.
Amanda Ribas jumps up to 125 pounds. to fight top-ranked Katlyn Chookagian.

Sean Strickland responds to Paulo Costa’s appeal:

Khalil Rountree’s vicious finish on Karl Roberson earned rare praise from Conor McGregor, and Rountree appreciates the love!
Slips, tears and KO clips
KSW regularly feeds this column with very violent clips, dedication to the Polish organization!
That’s about as bad as six seconds can go in combat sports. Brutal!
Have you ever wondered why rear bare chokes seem easier to find in the standing rear rack? Because the defending fighter cannot use the mat to scratch their opponent, the attacking fighter can throw both arms across the shoulders (rather than the classic over the shoulder, one under the armpit) without sacrificing much control. For this reason, it is imperative that the defending fighter catch the two-on-one immediately.
A little inspiration from one of the greatest!
