In case you missed it, the new season of The great British pastry fair premieres Friday, September 16 on Netflix. This means that 12 amateur bakers from the UK will compete in technical and spectacular challenges until one of them is crowned the winner. Abdul is an electronics engineer who grew up in Saudi Arabia with Pakistani parents. In his spare time, he likes to dance salsa and learn about space. Her love of baking began in college when Abdul spent his study breaks baking treats for his classmates. He often combines his work as an engineer and a pastry chef to create the perfect dessert.

As well as having the most colorful hair of all the contestants, Carole, who lives in Dorset, enjoys gardening. She even has her own gardening show on the local radio. She started baking while baking a cake for her granddaughter’s first birthday and now loves creating colorful horticulture-inspired designs.

Dawn is a true artist in the kitchen and beyond. The mother-of-three, mother-in-law of two and grandmother/grandmother-in-law of four love to take on the challenge of an illusion cake and create intricate and beautiful designs with her steady hand and concern detail.

James is a Scotsman who loves board games, 70s and 80s horror films and music. He incorporates these hobbies into his cooking with his “kid-friendly horror” style. You can expect to see him using plenty of fall flavors this season, as his favorites are mixed spice, apple, and caramel.

Originally from Poland, Janusz came to the UK ten years ago. Now he lives on the southeast coast with his boyfriend, Simon, and his dog, Nigel. He is a big fan of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, loves internet culture and has a collection of movie props. Her love of baking comes from her mother, who spent Saturdays in the kitchen. His cooking style is “cartoon-like, colorful and campy”, he said, and he loves incorporating Polish ingredients into classic British dishes.

Kevin is a total family man, spending much of his time with his wife, Rachel, his siblings and their partners, and their pets. He is a talented musician, playing saxophone, flute, piano and clarinet, and loves to eat and play board games. He started cooking in his late teens and enjoys perfecting his cooking skills, which he says will give him an edge this season.

Maisam was born in Libya and moved to the UK when she was nine. She loves languages ​​and speaks five of them (English, Arabic, Amazigh, Spanish and Turkish), but wishes she could speak seven by the age of 20. She is currently 18 years old. Maisam loves photography and baking. of course, starting the hobby at age 13. Obsessed with the science of baking, she also enjoys adding Mediterranean flavors inspired by her heritage.

Maxy holds a masters degree in architecture, you might want to watch her for any structural baking challenges. Born in Sweden, she is a mother of two girls and loves doing DIY projects in her apartment and making art. Her love for baking started when her eldest daughter was born and she would bake cakes during the holidays. Maxy enjoys using her artistic talents to create decorated cakes.

Rebs grew up in Northern Ireland and is obsessed with Irish culture. His talents include Irish dancing, flute and baking. She likes to incorporate Middle Eastern flavors into her baked goods in honor of her Turkish boyfriend.

Sandro has lived in London since the age of two when he fled Angola with his mother during the war. He loves boxing and dancing – breakdance and ballet – and turned to baking after his father passed away. Now he runs virtual baking classes for children with autism and loves using Angolan flavors like tangy paprika and cheese in his baked goods.

Originally from Malaysia, Syabira moved to the UK to do her PhD. Now she lives in London with her boyfriend, spending her time playing and cooking. The first thing she really baked was a red velvet cake in 2017. It reminded her of pastries back home and she started using Malaysian flavors in British dishes.

Residing in London with his wife, three children and cat, Tiggy, Will enjoys carpentry and cooking. Baking was something he started doing at a very young age with his mother, who let him nibble on the pastry fillings. Will loves baking with yeast and using salted caramel.
